The Yak, a sacred animal in Tibet, also known as the Tibetan ox, is a large mammal that lives on the Tibetan/Himalayan plateau, used by man since ancient times both as a work animal and for meat, milk and wool. The fiber obtained from its hair, which it naturally sheds at the beginning of spring, is an excellent yarn for making clothing such as blankets and scarves.
